Clip-In Extensions

1. Preparing the natural hair

Before applying the clip-in extensions, your natural hair should be properly prepared:

• Washing: Hair should be freshly washed and completely dry. Avoid using care products that make the hair too soft or slippery just before application.
• Drying: Ideally, blow-dry the hair straight or style it into the desired texture (e.g. softly waved, if preferred).
• Detangling: Use a gentle brush to thoroughly remove any knots from the hair.

A clean, slightly grippy hair texture makes it easier to securely attach the clips.

2. Choosing the right Clip-in Extensions

Clip-in Extensions consist of individual hairpieces attached to fine fabric or silicone strips and equipped with small clips. When choosing extensions, the following criteria are essential:

• Color: The clip-ins should match your natural hair color as closely as possible or be used to create intentional highlights.
• Length and volume: Depending on the desired result – from subtle thickening to dramatic lengthening.
• Structure: Extensions are available in straight, wavy, or curly – to match your natural hair texture.

Depending on the set, the clip-ins may consist of different pieces: narrow strands for the sides and wider ones for the back of the head.

3. Preparing the Extensions

Before being applied, the clip-ins should:

• Be gently brushed to remove any tangles.
• Be laid out and sorted in the order in which they will be applied (from bottom to top).

This saves time and ensures an even result.

4. Applying the Clip-in Extensions

a) Sectioning the natural hair

• Step 1: Create the first horizontal parting at the nape of the neck. Clip the hair above it up and out of the way.
• Step 2: Prepare the first, narrower hairpiece with clips.

Tip: For very fine hair, the hairline can be gently teased and fixed with a little hairspray to help the clips hold better.

b) Attaching the Clip-ins

• Open the clips of the first hairpiece.
• Position the clip directly at the hairline, press it gently against the scalp, and then close it. This ensures it grips securely to the natural hair.
• Start with the middle clip, then attach the clips on the left and right.
• The strand should lie flat against the head without pulling or feeling tight.

• Create a new horizontal parting about 2–3 cm above the previous layer.
• Clip up the hair above this section again.
• Attach the remaining hairpieces, working from the wider pieces at the back of the head to the narrower strands on the sides.

This way, the entire hair is built up systematically from bottom to top.

5. Finishing and Styling

Once all extensions are in place:

• Release the top layer of hair and carefully lay it over the clip-ins to conceal the clips.
• Use a soft brush to gently comb everything together, creating a natural blend.
• The hair can now be styled as desired: straightened, curled, or styled into a voluminous look.

Tip: The result looks especially natural if the natural hair is lightly blended with the clip-ins or trimmed to shape.
