2. Selection and Preparation of Extensions

The bonding human hair extensions come in strands and should be selected according to the desired length and color of the final result. Each strand is made of real hair that blends seamlessly with the natural hair.

The extensions have small keratin bands (bondings) at one end, which are activated using heat during application. These bondings are typically small, transparent, or color-matched beads or plates and serve to securely attach the extension to the natural hair.

Before use, the bondings should be checked to ensure that there are no knots or tangles. If necessary, a special hair care treatment can be used to detangle the hair beforehand.

3. Sectioning the Hair

To apply the extensions evenly and professionally, the hair is divided into sections. This makes the precise application easier and ensures that each strand is positioned correctly.

For this purpose, the hair is divided into horizontal sections, which are fixed with hair clips. The bottom layer of hair is then exposed and forms the base for the first bondings. It is advisable to start with the lower layer and work upwards step by step. This ensures that the extensions are well-hidden and invisible.

4. Applying the Bonding Extensions

Now begins the actual process of applying the bonding human hair extensions. The application occurs in several steps:

a) Selecting the strands:
The individual extensions are picked up using a special pliers or a handheld device. It is important to ensure that the strand chosen is neither too thick nor too thin to achieve a natural look.

b) Positioning the Extension:
The chosen strand is placed next to the natural hair strand. The bonding part of the extension is positioned close to the hair root, but without direct contact with the scalp. The distance from the scalp should always be at least 1–2 cm to ensure hair health and avoid scalp irritation.

c) Heating the Bondings:
Once the extension is placed next to the natural hair strand, the bonding adhesive is activated using a special heat tool or heater. These devices heat the keratin beads or plates of the bonding, making the adhesive soft and ensuring that the extension stays attached to the natural strand.

The pliers are applied to the bonding bead or plate and pressed for about 5-10 seconds. The heat softens the keratin bond and molds it around the hair strand. After this brief heating time, the bonding area is pressed into the desired shape, and the bonding fixation process is complete.

d) Repeating the Process:
This process is repeated for each subsequent extension, ensuring that enough space is left between each bonding to achieve an even distribution and natural look. It is recommended to place the bondings at regular intervals to ensure that the hair is evenly extended.

5. Post-Application and Styling

Once all the extensions are applied, the hair strands with the bondings are gently combed through to remove any tangles. A fine-toothed comb or a special extension brush can be helpful to detangle the hair gently.

A follow-up treatment may also be necessary to shape the hair as desired. This could include cutting and styling the extensions so that they blend perfectly with the natural hair, creating a harmonious overall look.

Finally, the hair is styled using a heat tool (e.g., curling iron or straightener). However, care must be taken not to directly heat the bondings, as this can damage the adhesive. It is advisable to use heat protection products to extend the lifespan of the extensions.
